Love this Scrabble Game March 10, 2010 Army Mom Lynda (Las Vegas NV) I had no problems with this program on my computer (Vista). I love this Scrabble game. The only thing that I don't like is when I trade in letters (when I have too many of the same vowel), I often get the same letters back or two or three of another vowel. That's the only not-so-good thing I can say. Otherwise for the price, it's awesome. I play one or two games every night before bed.
Great game for beginner or expert scrabble players March 8, 2010 Mona (Texas) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Great game for both beginner or expert scrabble players. Includes a dictionary and hints option. Lots of fun and you pick your level of ability. Can play against another player or the computer. Really enjoy this game.
A great update to Scrabble! Works on Windows 7! March 7, 2010 Tiffany Nelson (Illinois) I was using old Scrabble 2.0 with my Windows XP machine for a very long time. It worked but was annoying at times (disliked the name Maven, backgrounds were distracting, and dictionary could be easier to use). I found this Champion edition on Amazon after buying my new Windows 7 laptop and decided to go for it. It works beautifully with Windows 7 Home Premium Edition. Not one problem.
Pros:
-Runs without CD in drive!
-No more Maven (now you have the choice of beginner through expert)
-Prettier interface with large board
-Simple design
-Very easy dictionary, type to use.
-My favorite feature is once a word is played you can click the word in question on the upper left and it will pop up the dictionary and tell you the meaning. Handy!
-PRICE! Get the "JC" Jewel case edition. Save money off the box price.
Cons:
-Would have liked to see networked games (i.e. a person miles away or states away could play against you on the internet).
-The only flaw I have noticed while playing was while it was my turn, I searched in the dictionary and hit "enter", while letters were put on the board, and the game interpreted it as I was finished putting down letters and it was the next person's turn. So just be careful.
Wonderful game!
Works With Windows 7 March 3, 2010 R. McNabb (Flagstaff, AZ United States) I bought this because I had played it before on an XP machine, and it was inexpensive enough for me to experiment with on my Windows 7 system. The first thing I noticed was that Windows did not give me an option to 'install' the program, just one to 'run' it. I selected that and the system accessed the CD for a few seconds (less time than I remember it taking to install on Windows XP), then asked me if I wanted to run the program. When I clicked on OK or Yes, it opened Scrabble normally. I entered my game name and selected the 'intermediate' opponent. The game played normally in all ways, and there was only one - slightly annoying - computer glitch: three times during the game my system screens went blank (I run two monitors so I can drag things from one to another, or do two different things in two different places). The blank screens came back to their regular desktop configuration after a few seconds, and the game was minimized on the taskbar - all I had to do was click and I was right back in the game. When I was done with my game, I removed the CD from the drive, did a few other things, then searched out the Hasbro folder on the Start Menu. I was able to start the game from there without the CD being in the drive. Considering the price, and the fact that I am a Scrabble junkie, I'm going to stamp a Mark VII on this and call it good for Windows 7. It's too bad the only flaw I found - a minor one, indeed - exactly matches what it would look like if your entire system had just tanked. But as long as you know about it in advance, you'll be okay.
Scrabble February 18, 2010 pixiering (Georgia, USA) The game arrived in perfect condition. I am enjoying it very much. It is great to find items on Amazon to order when you can not find what you want in the stores. Thank you very much for your site.
